Yesterday I, and a handful of others, had the great fortune to be taught how to felt gloves by Cathy Unwin. In what I can only describe as a long but rewarding process we all started with giant hand templates, painstakingly tender laying out, and even gentler felting where they slowly but surely felted and shrank to fit our hands.
They took so long to make, and I cannot wait until they are fully dry and I can wear them properly to show them off!
HA! Abigail, always have to laugh when you see how big you have to start with felting to get the size you eventually want ;-)
ReplyDeleteyeah it still surprises me too!
ReplyDeleteThe gloves are amazing! They're a treasure you'll get lots of use from. I'm still in awe ... I have never seen felted gloves.
ReplyDeleteIt was a pretty awe inspiring process to learn from Cathy; if you ever get the chance to do a workshop on felted gloves I suggest doing it; you learn so much.
ReplyDeleteawesome abi!!! i would like some for christmas ;)
ReplyDeleteas if! do you know how long they took to make??? ;)
ReplyDeleteI agree - great process but it took ages!! They look fantastic. Have finished mine now and am really pleased with them. Will send you some pics when I get it sorted. Off to look at all your other pics now. Nicky xx
